That is a good point to add in. “I spent 9 months prying a photo of PuF4 out of the DOE, I WILL track down the source you didn’t cite.” so far a repeated response of folk I’ve talked to has been that they ran out of time & felt like they had to turn something in.

Having had to send a student up through the prof and then the university due to plagiarism once, I think my approach is basically gonna boil down to "Here's how much crap you create if you do this, for yourself, if you don't care about others' time."
