So, among the many items of interest about @DanielEllsberg, one I can REVEAL: he posed some of the most interesting and original questions about Manhattan Project history that I have ever had asked of me. Expect a blog post, maybe two, on them.
I have to admit that I was genuinely taken aback at his interest and knowledge of early atomic history (i.e., well prior to his own involvement in it). (And I am not just saying that because he says he reads my blog, but that certainly doesn't hurt!)
How exactly did he obtain the questions?
He has a very serious interest in the subject. He knows his stuff and has thought about it a long time.
Apologies, I was attempting (and failing) to make a Pentagon Papers joke. I have a great deal of admiration for Mr. Ellsberg.
Looking forward to this. He knew my thesis advisor, Bill Kaufmann, quite well, and mentions him quite often in The Doomsday Machine.
