Since people are tweeting about #InternationalWomensDay and the academy: I doubt I would be a scholar at all (much less a nuclear historian) without my undergraduate advisor, @CathrynCarson. I don't think I would have even considered academia without her influence.

In graduate school, the advisor I had who read every draft, talked over half-baked ideas, and taught me how to think deeply about all things related to science, technology, and politics was

And my colleagues at Stevens @DroceanJulie and @KristynLKarl are central to my current work and research. It is inconceivable to me to imagine an academia without women, and yet I've seen the stats — I know how underrepresented they still are, how tilted things are.
