I'm questioning a few of his points. He claims Fat Man's pit was inserted in flight, and a single point detonation would cause a nuclear yield. I didn't think either were true. Is he confusing FM with Little Boy, which required in flight cordite insertion and wasn't 1 pt safe?

On the in-flight insertion, yes, he has it slightly mixed up. On whether it is 1-point safe — FM wasn't 1-point safe by later standards. Still not LIKELY to detonate from 1-point detonation. But not guaranteed 1-point safe.

Yes, think was referring to “Fatman” style bombs. Referencing what they did w/ later Mark 5 w/ in flight insertion of pit, etc. Bigger question is what do you think about AEC stockpiling untested Hydrogen Bomb before Mike Test.Seems this changes timeline of H-Bomb capacity?

Yes, I'd want to see if that were true about the TX-16. They only made like 5 of them, total. So it's not a HUGE capability change. But interesting if true. FWIW, AEC officials seem to have never considered their capability as being a real one until 1954.
