Georgetown has the scariest alarm tests... it is some kind of ancient air raid siren, and when I started there, I wasn't on the "we're doing tests" update list yet, so it just started up once when I was working in my office there, and nobody was around...

That is horridly ominous! We had them in Baton Rouge because the chrmical plants and refineries would blow up regularly.

Amusingly and perhaps relatedly, once I got on the text alerts list I found it damned near impossible to get off of them, and got updates on their alarm testing for a few years afterwards...
