I don't know about everyone, but being in grad school for ages 23–30 (or thereabouts) definitely made my 20s have a different character than my undergrad and teenage years. It transformed my social circles into almost entirely academic-based ones.
I have 2-3 people from grad school + previous I try to keep a connection to that is more than "social media + see them once a year at a conference" but it's tough. Living in a "hub" city area helps some, because it's one of those places where people cycle in and out periodically.
