I don't know about everyone, but being in grad school for ages 23–30 (or thereabouts) definitely made my 20s have a different character than my undergrad and teenage years. It transformed my social circles into almost entirely academic-based ones.
I felt that I basically traded my 20s for a PhD, spending that time in really different kinds of social/labor circles than most of the people who I went to high school or undergrad with. Just totally different worlds of concerns, activity, schedules, etc. Hard to re-connect them.

Heck if I know! Some people are better at it than others I suspect? I think I'm pretty bad at it.
