Anyone taking bets on the Doomsday Clock this year? At only 2.5 minutes to midnight they don't have a lot of wiggle room to move forward! I am torn between guessing 30 seconds or a full minute forward. My guess is 30 seconds — gotta leave some room to get worse.pic.twitter.com/M1DPg87kH7

11:58:00 is my guess. It will be interesting to see how close to the precipice they figure we are.

If it moves forward to two minutes, the official anthem of 2018 is gonna be a 34 year old Iron Maiden song.

The Doomsday Clock is so silly. Not only did it miss various close calls, but it then started to incorporate climate change, etc.

I agree with 30 seconds. A full minute would be a VERY dramatic statement. Still, some current indicators might suggest a larger jump.

I‘d say: rather than setting the clock only once per year, consider setting it once per month for now. Or once per tweet of certain people even. 😊
