(Also, I didn't really follow the whole thread — I was just trying to answer a few specific technical questions that were asked. I agree 100% that the idea that low-yield nukes will not be read as "real nukes" by adversaries — or allies — is totally silly.)

(Would people be able to tell that a sub-kiloton nuke is smaller than a several-kiloton-range nuke? Probably. Would that matter much in practice? I seriously doubt it.)
