It also changes the role of the historian in an important way — when we acknowledge our own role in interpretation and presentation, it transforms us into much more creative scholars, beyond any mere chronology recorders. To be both creative and empirical is a fun practice.

Yes! Related: appreciating the unknowns of history also helps me appreciate how much info we already do have, scattered across many sources; that is, it helps me escape self-imposed, overly narrow evidentiary frames.
