I suppose another good function would be to help establish if they really are testing thermonuclear weapons (i.e. >250KT yeild + no ν-bar signal = TN).
Though if they do TN that is greater or equal to, say, 500 Kt (not impossible) it is very possible that they could have >250 Kt yield from fission...

Right — most TN weapons are at least 50% fission, some have gone much higher (e.g. 80%), mostly just using the fusion reactions to set off more fission reactions.
