And we'll STILL be able to totally destroy them back, many times over. No different than China, Russia, etc.
You need a REALLY good reason to think deterrence won't work with them, if you are going to gamble on hundreds of thousands of lives.

They are pursuing nukes for the same reasons US keeps them — assurance nobody is going to try to destroy them. We can live with that.
