      It strikes me as a very strained interpretation to see it as anything other than a condemnation of the whole idea of the Vietnam War.

      It repeatedly stresses the incorrect ideas the endeavor was founded on, the impossibility of victory, the total misunderstanding by the US.

      Which, I think, only makes it more powerful, and sad. Those soldiers who wanted to do the right thing, etc., and then they see what it is.

      Anyway, sorry for the rant. I think the "it equivocates on the war" view is not quite right. It is a powerful anti-war film, in my mind.
