I have heard many people suggest this, but they must be watching something else than I am, or watching it differently.

It repeatedly stresses the incorrect ideas the endeavor was founded on, the impossibility of victory, the total misunderstanding by the US.
I am somewhat incredulous that anyone would take away anything other than condemnation of the US endeavor there.

Now, does it give you the US soldiers' perspective? The Army commanders'? Yes, of course. It also gives critics', and N. Vietnamese POV.

Which, I think, only makes it more powerful, and sad. Those soldiers who wanted to do the right thing, etc., and then they see what it is.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I think the "it equivocates on the war" view is not quite right. It is a powerful anti-war film, in my mind.

And I think we (Americans) could use more of those right now — a reminder of what hubris and belief in technological superiority get you.
