$200 for HSS registration is… ouch.

It's more the ~50% increase since 2014 that gets me. That's nuts for 4S. APS pushes $600 for non-members, but assumption is grants paying.
I know the HSS leadership do worry about this a lot and strive to keep things "reasonable-enough." But the conf. venues are super expensive.

My recollection is one reason for increase over years is assumption that every talk will have LCD projectors. Hotels charge a LOT for that.
