Conflicted on the @ValeriePlame "thing." On one hand, I am not a fan of call-out, pile-on culture, and people can make mistakes.

I don't think she's dumb — that's what's baffling about it.

smart in one (or many) area doesn't mean you can't be dumb in another. But still, yeah, like.. WTF.

I prefer to think about it less about smart/dumb (measure of mental ability) and instead about blind spots/ignorance/awareness.

Lots of objectively intelligent people (James Watson for example) have huge blind spots when it comes to issues of race/class/culture.

And I don't presume to not have blind spots of my own. I'm sure I do. And yet.
