i studied anthro in my undergrad and learned about HCI and STS near the tail end of a ~7 year undergrad career (community college+UC). /10

i can't think of a moment in primary/secondary school that anyone mentioned this except as narrative toward ~The Scientific Method~. /10

i've lost count of the number of times people gave me condescending or pitying looks because i said i studied anthropology /10

Premed students were regularly told that anthropology was a total waste of time. Found it shocking.

Even if they don't value understanding cultural differences in treatment, i'd think the story of kuru would have been compelling enough...

I actually studied about kuru! But then, it was in an anthro class, not a "hard" science course!
