Getting out of assignments (or having me do make-ups) is an accommodation. I'd rather it be handled through the channels already in place.

I have no problem with "a heads up" in the sense that I've already described (fully contextualizing the work and readings ahead of time).

So if I've understood this convo, you do in fact give TWs and you just don't call them that as a way of avoiding pathologization?

I always give the students a heads up on the reading. Usually it is along the lines of "this is written in an annoying way, but very smart."
