How would you preface a class if the topic was sexual violence/assault/rape? I think the trigger warning debate depends on the course.
I don't have any problem with being very clear about what's going to be talked about/read/etc. I just don't like assumptions of fragility.

I agree fragility isn't useful. But I'm not sure that being clear grapples w/ subjects that are personal for some students and not others.

I work hard to make the classroom a welcoming space, but I think TW approach is not the best one towards that end.

TW aren't the best framing; but they try to deal with making a respectful and welcoming space for radically diverse humans.
