I am not a huge Star Wars fan (I caught a few of the "easter eggs," like the guys from the Mos Eisley bar), but I do have an eye for nukes!
There is a lot of nuke easter eggs/appropriation in Rogue One! Here is a piece I wrote for @BulletinAtomic on thishttp://thebulletin.org/death-star-ultimate-weapon-mass-destruction10359 …
In our podcast on Rogue One, I tried using NUKEMAP to model "single reactor death star," but 100MT limit foiled me! https://soundcloud.com/supercriticalpodcast/episode-13-star-wars …pic.twitter.com/REpas3dJgP

Is this true @tvaziri?
We looked at a ton of post-nuclear/h-bomb test photography to help define the look.
