      So, spherical secondary is efficient, but impractical? But wouldn't Soviet evolution (from spherical to long) suggest other factors?

      For smaller (e.g. missile) warheads, you can apparently get much better efficiency for mass/volume out of a spherical secondary.

          Intuitively, I would imagine that with growing size, ideal shape would be sphere -> elongated sphere ("egg") -> semi-infinite cylinder
