@wellerstein trig functions are not slow relative to database queries
MySQL confuses me sometimes. Everyone says trig functions are slow, but slower still seems to be just retrieving lots of rows.

@bsdphk It just strikes me as counterintuitive that running an atan2 on every row of a table is quicker than just retrieving all those rows - 1 more reply

@wellerstein Row retrieval is dependent on disk read speed as well as the indexes on the tables. Trig operations are only CPU bound.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
