@NuclearAnthro Nevermind, I see there’s new info re Goldsboro that I hadn’t read before. I’ll stand corrected F/N @poloniumman @PSRsecurity
@wheelcritter @NuclearAnthro @poloniumman My memory is that I read somewhere that it had an HEU sparkplug, but now I can't recall where.

@wellerstein Isn't it safe to assume that all thermonuclear weapons have sparkplugs, or at least used to have them at the time? -
@pfc_joker The question is not whether it had a sparkplug (which I think is safe to assume) but whether it was HEU or Pu. -
@wellerstein Ah, I see.

@wellerstein Sure, HEU in the spark plug. AFAICT all TN secondaries have HEU for ignition. Just meant ++U238@NuclearAnthro@poloniumman -
@wellerstein Later, smaller secs w HEU pushers wouldn’t need separate spark plug; pusher U235 causes ignition.@NuclearAnthro@poloniumman -
@wellerstein All other secs w/have HEU in separate spark plugs.@NuclearAnthro@poloniumman -
@wellerstein Out here in the dark, we don’t really know how complicated sec internals became.@NuclearAnthro@poloniumman
