@wellerstein According to http://www.fas.org/sgp/othergov/doe/tab2.html … Hanford produced 493 kg of Pu by the end of FY47; should have been enough for ~ 75 Mk 3's.
I looked this up b/c someone claimed that US could have made a much bigger nuke stockpile b/w '45-'49 if they had wanted to — I disagreed

@pfc_joker Right — they were talking about being able to scale it up to hundreds if not thousands of weapons in that amount of time, though. -
@wellerstein Ah, that sure doesn't sound realistic. I thought they were speaking of just increasing the stockpile several times.
