@wellerstein good grief! Do you know if non-Soviet astronauts of any nationality ever carry weapons?

@Hivemeitner I was wondering the same thing. NASA apparently never did. -
@wellerstein I wonder if there's some kind of agreement for the ISS, too? Having some armed and some not must cause protocol problems. -
@Hivemeitner I'm imagining a screenplay that is a mix of 2001, Alive, and The Grey, all with fake Russian accents. -
@wellerstein ...I'd watch that.

@wellerstein I don't see the crazy. As the article says, could be used for hunting or to send distress signal. -
@metaAnnelies By "crazy" I meant, "My, I didn't expect that! What an unusual weapon, at that!" Not so much "they are mentally ill." -
@wellerstein gotcha, thanks for the clarification (and I agree, it's weird-looking - looks heavy)

@wellerstein Now I got the "armed" part. In fact, a handgun might still be a standard issue at Soyuz spacecraft.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
