74 years ago today, the United States detonated an atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. There are some pictures of this event from the air, and a few from the ground, and many of the aftermath. But this is the one I find most affecting.pic.twitter.com/xPD7DPpkkL

Tragic? YES. This would have NEVER happened if Pearl Harbor didn't happen. We dropped leaflets warning of the bomb. We gave them ample time to surrender. War sucks - but lets not forget who started it.

We didn't actually drop leaflets with warnings about atomic bombs prior to using them. This is an internet myth. I've written on this at some length, with official documentation. One can defend the bombings if one wants, but don't do it with a myth. :-)http://blog.nuclearsecrecy.com/2013/04/26/a-day-too-late/ …

If you are interested, here is how the Bradbury Museum presents the leaflets: Funny that is one of the very few mentions of soviet invasion I see in these heritage sites...pic.twitter.com/KPTRQ5ReDM

And we actually did plenty to incite them. And we forced Japan to renounce its isolationism. We ultimately forced their hand. And when Japan wanted to expand like the US and Great Britain did, we said “no.”

I don't have time to read the retarded ramblings of a "blue check mark" but let's say it didn't happen which makes sense to me, why would you want em, fuck em. But we're talking about a country responsible for horrible war crimes second only to Nazis who refused to surrender.

“I don’t have time to read” - the beginning of that statement clarifies everything proceeding it. You poor thing

You're retarded if that's what you think. Me saying I'm not going to read it, agree that he's probably right, and then make a statement saying that even if thats true, it doesn't matter. And then I explain why. Nice try though

What’s your opinion about the role of the steadfast resolve of the Japanese military in the Allied decision to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki ? Did the mere “unknown” of the power of atomic bomb factor? Also, at the end of the day, unconditional surrender was never accomplished....

Potsdam Declaration was warning enough. What part of “prompt and utter destruction” was not understood?
