It’s a commonplace to say that Texas’s chauvinism makes it America’s America. But ... the constant emphasis New York places on reminding you that it is the biggest, the best, the classiest reminds one that NYC has many traits we consider Texan.
Though I think NYC is a more cosmopolitan chauvinism — "we're the best, because the best come here," not "we're the best, because the best are born here."
