I just realized that Apple's Time Machine and I have the same inappropriate optimism about how long tasks will take. "This backup will only take 20 minutes! Uh, well, maybe, it'll take 3 hours. Uh, I mean, 3 days. I mean..."

Check the disk health and in a hurry too: both internal and backup.
I'm making a full, fresh 1TB backup... it's gonna take time no matter what.

OK, that takes 4-6hrs from SSD to spinner from experience.

Yeah that's probably what it'll end up being. But it's always amusing to me that it initially thinks its gonna go soooo fast.
