I’m sometimes surprised by how students assume I will be interested in their politics. Like, “Hold on, you *hate* neoliberalism? I’m having a hard time here, because the last five or six people who walked into my office were completely in love with it.”

My current response is: I don't know what that is. Do you mean globally synchronized supply chains? I know what those are.
-
That’s a great response. “Can you teach me something about globally synchronized supply chains? I would love to more about those.”
-

I've never had students go performative with their politics, likely because my classroom is pure nihilism (P&T committee: "it says here your classroom is 'pure nihilism'")
-
