Nuclear tweeps: research help needed. Via Nevada Natl Sec Site I found info re the Nuclear Testing Archive at same address as Las Vegas Natl Atomic Testing Museum. Are they the same thing? Not getting much help from NATM re available records. @ColdWarScience

They are. Just different floors of the same building.

Sorry, I meant they are at the same address. They are not the same institution, though NATM does get to borrow from the archives upstairs for exhibits.

Thanks! Just spoke with the NTA & it sounds like most everything they have is online. Would appreciate advice re best research locations in Las Vegas, esp re civilian impacts of nuclear weapons use & testing.

That’s a great question. I haven’t researched there, wonder if @atomiclinda or @wellerstein have insights?

NTA generally doesn't want you to come in person. You CAN. But they'll be weird about it. Not everything is online, but everything they have can be requested as a PDF, but only 100 per request.

(My wife used the NTA in person many years ago for her dissertation research. She was accused of "hogging the documents" because she wanted to use more than 100 per week or two or whatever.)

For other sites: I would check with UNV. They have an oral history program archive I've seen used a lot and I wouldn't be surprised if they had more in their special collections.

Thank you so much. For my current limited needs, I can rely a lot on the secondary lit. But for including on the ground narrtives, primary sources needed. I appreciate your advice.
