Yep, tsunami warning system. They test them at noon on the first Monday of each month, iirc

Do they still have the civil defense info in the front of the phone books? (Do they still have phone books?) There are different siren tones for different warnings, e.g. attack warning or tsunami warning. The funny one was “attack with no warning” — there’s no siren!
