Why are they all red? That's the true color or did they use a particular film for some reason?
Many of the Pacific shots were very red. I am not sure exactly why — it may just be the exact moment the photo was taken (the colors change a lot in the first few seconds). But it is very pronounced in some of them, even sub-megaton ones (like these attached).pic.twitter.com/cIGQuqIIiX

I'm not 100% certain about this, but I think k they might have used color infrared film to do early shots (still and motion) because it was the only way to get usable images as other color emulsions couldn't be properly exposed at that time in film photography technology.
