Yesterday, my wife's 14 mile driving commute (the Bronx to Hoboken) took... **9 hours.** One of those things so horrible that it's kind of impressive.
I am not one to howl for official blood when something goes awry with weather forecasting... but I will say that this gives one little confidence that our infrastructure would be very good at managing a genuine catastrophe, if six inches of unexpected wet snow can cripple it so.
(I am in Paris this week for a workshop, so I was, of course, no help at all. Flying home later today.)
(I used my extra Euros at the duty-free store to pick up some extra "sorry you were stuck in a Fiat 500 for 9 hours" gifts.)

I installed a @SIRIUSXM system in it a few months ago, in an effort to make her (not great even when it doesn't take 9 hours) commute not as nasty, and the wisdom in this keeps making itself known!
I heard Jersey in particular got socked in with this snow, but that's still appalling.
It seems like it was the timing as much as anything. Prediction was very light snow, reality was heavier, wet snow that brought down trees, but the timing was that the roads were already full by then (normal Friday rush), so it made it very hard to fix anything that was broken.

9 hours, trinkets might not help. Detail the interior. I did 10 hours on the DC beltway 8 years ago, had to go back to the office, thought I was going to explode.
