An open call: do you have a favorite origin/discovery story for a chemical element? If so, I'd love to hear about it!
Fermi's purported discovery of Hesperium is a favorite of mine... because it turned out to be false, concealing a more interesting discovery (fission). Technetium has a nice story — found in the refuse of a particle accelerator.
