@wellerstein Which is more powerful: a hurricane or a nuclear bomb?

Hurricanes have more energy but nukes deposit their energy more efficiently (smaller area and timescale), so the immediate destruction is much more from the nukes. Deaths from even small nukes on cities are orders of magnitude higher than those from large hurricanes b/c of this.
