I've been using the term "technology studies" as an umbrella to talk about interdisciplinary work on the social dimensions of technology. A smart friend suggests, however, that the term "studies" is so tainted it's broken. Any suggestions for an alternative?

(Which is not to say that actual Art is non-confrontational. Just that STEM folks don't find Arts to be a threat, and so are happy to say that they should add a little Arts to a STEM curriculum.)

Also, once you’re at STEAM surely you’re basically describing the whole university? (Arts is Aus covering both hum and soc sci)

I think calling the social sciences "arts" is demeaning both to the social scientists and to the artists, personally.
