An interesting question to ask — would studying it make for better scientists? I think so, but I can also see that the existing way in which scientists tend to learn their own history (which is usually quite poor by historian's standards) serves a social function.

Better scientists? Hmm. Good question. But I think probably yes. It certainly wouldn't make worse scientists. But more importantly, I do think it would make for better scientist-citizens...
