The folks I know who actually have the relevant deep-expertise have suggested to me that the IPCC's *worst-case* contemplated scenario is probably our *best-case* scenario at this point. ...Happy fourth!

BLUF2: future damages still very much depend on current & future emissions, so it’s never too late to reduce emissions. Gonna be hot tho.
I think there's a bigger risk communication point here (the sort of thing our team is studying) about the difficulties of crafting a message that doesn't turn things into all or nothing, but also doesn't lend itself to fatalism or complacency.
