      Something tells me a teraton detonation would more or less wipe the planet clean anyway, quite aprt from any sustained igntition of the oceans...

      Not *totally* clean by itself, but it would do a lot of damage... the impactor that killed the dinosaurs was on the order of 120 teratons of energy. So that's a "make NEARLY everything extinct" level of energy release. A perfectionist would desire more...
