Freight is king on the U.S. rail network. Passenger trains have to give right-of-way to freight. Opposite of the rest of the world. I guess just a matter of perspective

Nothing enrages me more when I return to this country from abroad than the state of American infrastructure, especially in the Northeast.

Right on. Try just about any European city. The trains are clean, reliable and reasonably well-serviced. Public rail in this country is absurd.

I love in NYC on the Lexington line. Yesterday at 1pm I got on a butt to butt packed train with no AC, which was delayed at each stop. Also, the roof had caved in at Borough Hall

I grew up in India where delays were really bad, so I am not put off by the delays on Amtrak. Have this weird - journey is the reward- perspective. But trains in India are much more colorful and entertaining. Amtrak gets a bit dull.
