Like everything there is no binary answer. Not tough enough in cases & too tough in others. Prisons do the basic thing...punish & protect society. But they need to train, educate, & rehabilitate far more. We need to stop leaning too much one way or other. Massive investment req

rehabilitation in prisons... a) the wrong people get put in them b) they are a lucrative business c) you don’t create the hostile environment for crime in the first place d) that’s why (a) is so important for justice lacking in today’s society you put those using torment 1/
