The pandemic flu vaccine will be deployed in the event of a pandemic flu A outbreak. This is good news, if it’s as effective as hoped.

To be clear, I was referring to Corona’s piker status as far as mortality rate is concerned. Flu 1918 was 5 times more deadly than this virus. Even in 1918 one had a 90% chance of NOT getting it and a similar chance of NOT DYING if one did get it. [thanks, ]

Just for reference, the influenza pandemic of 1918: 500,000,000 infected (about 10% of the population), 50,000,000 died (about 1-1.5% of the world’s total population) in an avian flu outbreak. Corona is a piker (so far) compared to these numbers. [tnx ]

it wouldn’t necessarily, but we don’t know what care they did get. Also they were taken by surprise and we have the benefit of foreknowledge even if they had the best care imaginable. We can benefit from their experience so presumably our odds will be better (not necessarily)

one would presume so, though in the recent swine flu epidemic, the elderly were spared because we had been exposed to that virus in the 70s when we were young. Therefore it’s not a perfect rule.

Yes this points out the fundamental injustice of the urine drug screen. Would you rather have an employee who tokes up a little on the weekend or one who is coked up at work on Monday? The former will test positive on Friday, but the latter will not.

China:14557 cases resulted in 304 deaths. We know nothing about the healthcare those 304 received. Assuming that they got excellent healthcare, the death rate is ~2%. So if you get it, you have a 98% chance of NOT DYING. Now that we’re prepared the odds are probably even better.

Corona outbreak numbers: Global: 14557 cases 14411 in China (2590 new) 2110 severe 304 deaths (45 new) Outside of China: 146 (14 new) 23 countries 1 death (Phillipines) Keep washing those hands, my friends! The next 4 weeks will tell the tale on this one.

Came across this memory from FORTY YEARS AGO when I was in my early 20s. Never gets old; Tina is still one of my favorite bass players. She and Chris made a perfect rhythm section. "Does anybody have any questions?"

I love it when someone totally makes up a rule and then tries to gaslight us by saying "remember? Everyone knows this but you..." (I guess it's a measure of how good we actually have it if we can just decide to get offended over stuff like this.)

Ok conspiracy nuts, yes, Lysol is "in on it," whatever "it" is. coronaviruses are not new. They're very common and often cause very mild upper respiratory syndrome which we call "the common cold." this mutated Corona virus, however, is totally new.
