As a new year begins.
Another member of the Brexit ain't best club. While trying to demonstrate that TM deal is better than crashing out (no deal) @michaelgove makes a great case for remaining in EU.

Yes.....these are the views of Theresa May, but as Prime Minister she is acting on the will of the nations majority. If she hadn’t, we’d be calling her a dictator, and we all know what happens to them. A leader is rarely popular and I believe the PM to be doing as best as she can
-
The best I can muster is that she is a hard worker who is working against, not in, the best interests of the people. Her current conduct about no deal and the threats and damage to us and our neighbours is outrageous.
-
The ultimate, undemocratic manipulator.

This speech needs reading out in Parliament, then word for word, inserting the negative outcomes she is now selling, eg Leaving Europe will leave us economically weaker etc.

Unfortunately disappointed Leavers point to her Remain alter ego and blame that for the unicorn shortage rather than the complete infeasibility of a benefit retaining Brexit.

Matt your so in denial, WAKE UP

I think a person who changes their view so completely should not be pm. She is not useful to either side. And, sadly, has proved it.
#stopbrexit -
i think it is OK for a politician to change their mind on an issue, but she owes it to us all to address the issues she set out before and explain why she was wrong. She never does that, its all "nothing has changed" while heading 180 degrees from the original heading.
-
Well put. Has she really changed her mind? Has she just changed her position to suit her goals? She cannot therefore does not argue with her own 2016 case for remaining. She won't let truth get in her way.

Surely the point is that she probably still thinks the same, but is trying to deliver what people voted for.
-
The point is that she should do what is right for the people and certainly do no deliberate harm. Her orchestrated no deal crisis is entirely of her own making and she can stop it any time. She could not be further from a devoted servant of the people carrying out her duty.
-
She's giving full vent to her 'angry headmistress ' self ...on the basis that it was voted for, she's now going to make sure we get it, however terrible the consequences might be.
-
I've often thought along these lines. "Well you voted for it, I just did what the country voted for..." type thing.
-
Which falls well short of leadership
-
She, nor anyone else, will ever say "Look. We've looked at this and as far as we can tell, it's going to have a negative impact on the country, and we don't know for how long. Are you sure you want this?"
-
Well, no one with their hand anywhere near the steering wheel seems prepared to say it ....and it would take a leader with more about them than TM or JC could ever hope to have to do it.
-
Indeed.
