    Thank you for sharing that. As Shakespeare wrote in the St. Crispin's Day Speech of Henry V: "... From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember'd; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers..."

    One of the first times I actually felt close to my WWII, Korean, Vietnam War Veteran Grandfather was when I was reading his copies of The Brotherhood of War series during my downtime from pulling security in a JSS during OIF!

    Same...my History Teacher turned me in to this series in the 10th grade. Had it on his desk. Told me I couldn’t read that one because I hadn’t read the previous books. I read the first Corps book shortly after and have been hooked since. Have read all the series.

    Amen. "Unintended comfort" -- a beautiful phrase.

    I have a collection of books that belonged to my late father. They are weathered and worn, with corners turned down, and for a long time, smelled like him. I’ve read them all many times over these past 15 years. They were/still are an unintended comfort to me.
