Kinda crazy how much more advice there is on persuading people than on being persuaded. Not just when to buy an argument, but also how to get it to percolate through your models of the world & actually behave as though you'd bought it.
Oh! What I'm pointing to there is the tendency to hear what you think is a life-changing idea, and then sort of sequester it in some "interesting ideas" part of the mind rather than let its implications spread into the other things you think about & act on throughout the day
