I don't know if better/worse is the right frame. The outcome of an incentivized behavior depends a lot on the person, but they are better curated, which implies better filters. Building & maintaining a good filter set is hard.
What difference in outcomes from incentives and outcomes from curation are you pointing at, here? I agree that "better" is fraught, but insofar as it's fraught for incentives it's also fraught for curation

Yes, you caught me. I'm thinking of the difference in judgment between someone who sees a lot of stuff all the time vs someone who just dips their toes in occasionally. It's an aesthetic like wet/crass vs dry humor.
