Sadly, what's lost in the emotional idea that the rich should be somehow less rich is that the poor need to be educated about money and how it works. And then they have to be willing to put forth the effort required. Knowledge and work.

In my experience, many of the working poor work long hours, work to the best of their ability & are thrifty. Poverty traps are real & diverse. I don't know if any single approach will be sufficient, which is why we need to be willing to try a variety of them on the local level

i'm still not convinced that wealth inequality is a real problem. people not getting needs met is a problem, but that has nothing to do with disparity in how those needs are met.

It’s not the wealth inequality that’s a problem (a certain amount is necessary in a healthy economy), it’s the concentration of power that accompanies it passes some inflection point.

Extreme wealth is itself a danger to society. With enough money you can buy governments, destroy communities, etc. It is an illness to seek more than you and those you care about can consume in their lifetimes. Proletarianism is just as destructive as communism.

I think it is the nature of things that we tend to get a curve where the most of anything is always in the hands of the few. We see this among animals as well. With tyranny and centralization you can destroy this curve. Not sure that is the road we want to go on though

Well often the money for robust social programs that make the poor less poor are paid for by high taxes on the wealthy. That's the (I would say pretty successful) model of a lot of northern Europe
