IMO, if in your social life being persuasive is a much more valuable skill than being persuaded, you’re not hanging out with the right people
Seriously, going to great lengths to be in rooms where I’m the stupidest person present has done wonders. Ask ALL the questions. Brilliant people will tell you the condensed version of what they’ve spent years learning, and they’ll enjoy doing it & think better of you for caring
many areas, even truth-seeking ones (say academia), are set up competitively though - so being persuasive remains a more useful skill
