Blasé, maybe, but yes. A few days ago, I wrote a short "thinking of you" email to someone I hadn't spoken to in 3+ months. It was wonderful. Going to write at least another three today. Will follow you if you reply with a commitment to write just one.

Addendum: - Internet friends count, if you were at any point quite close - Length doesn’t matter, but the content should be heartfelt - Phone calls, texts, carrier pigeons, etc. all count, but don’t let the format get in the way of the mission
I send these texts almost every day! Particularly at night when my wife’s in the shower and I have a few minutes to kill – love looking up old friends on FB, reminiscing about old stories and asking how they’re doing. Very therapeutic and life-affirming
