It seems like there just isn't as much demand for long-form writing as there used to be, and the feedback loops on other platforms are tighter. Like, the voice of our generation that wins out will probably have a podcast and a popular twitter feed.

Good point! Let's think up some more! I also have two random passing thoughts... One is that how demanding book+Twitter+podcast+talks must be. The other is that I just hope the introspection of writing long novels won't be fully lost.

Actually, looking through Sam's follow list is probably a good place to start, though they'll mostly be nonfiction writers...
